(Personal Account) Prof. AlSwailem is the CEO of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property. Formerly, he served as Vice-President of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) for Scientific Research Support (). Furthermore, he served as Director of the Natural Resources and Environment Research Institute at KACST for ten years. He also served as Chairperson of the National Committee of Bioethics (NCBE) as well as Chairperson of the Biotechnology Research Center, Arab Committee of Ethics of Science and Technology, and Chairperson of the International Governmental Bioethics Committee-UNESCO (). AlSwailem has also contributed in genomics, proteomics and biosafety research projects; and he has served as chair and member of national and international boards and committees. Moreover, he served as consultant with WIPO and UNESCO. AlSwailem completed his doctorate at Sheffield University in UK in biotechnology and genetic engineering and he has authored scientific reports and articles in the field of biotechnology, genetic engineering and bioethics. AlSwailem has also lectured in several national and international symposia and conferences.
