About
I genuinely love what I do. I've spent 20+ years working at the intersection of technology, utilities and energy markets. It's at the centre of the energy transition and it's an exciting place to be. I'm passionate about helping decision makers and the broader public understand the speed, scale and consequences of the energy transition. I do this by:✅ correcting outdated assumptions and narratives✅ grounding discussions and insights in data ✅ explaining the system-level implications of electrification, renewables and storage. It's not just about what's happening – it's also about why it matters.Much of my work and industry engagement focuses on topics such as:- the economics of solar, storage and electrification- EVs and batteries reaching industrial-scale maturity- how energy systems are being reshaped by new technologiesIncluding why old comparisons and mental models are increasingly breaking down.Professionally, my career has spanned consulting, enterprise software and energy platforms, working closely with utilities and energy organisations in Australia and internationally. My technical foundations as a developer and architect gave me strong product intuition, while later roles in presales and commercial leadership taught me how to frame technology in terms of market impact and business value.Over time, I’ve learned a few things about how I work best:➡️ I like to challenge the status quo and encourage people to see things differently➡️ I have a knack for explaining complex systems in clear, practical terms➡️ I value lifelong learning and informed, evidence-based debate➡️ I prefer to coach and guide rather than prescribe answers➡️ I’m most effective in strategic, market-facing and advisory contexts.Outside of work, I spend as much time as possible with my young family and squeeze in some triathlon training when I can.I enjoy insightful conversations with people working on the energy transition – across industry, research, policy and advisory worlds.
