Warner Thomas is president & CEO of Sutter Health, one of the country’s largest not-for-profit health systems. He leads a team of 65,000 employees and 14,000 aligned physicians and clinicians working together to deliver high-quality, innovative and compassionate care to more than 3.6 million people across Northern and Central California. Warner joined Sutter in 2022 and under his leadership, the organization is pursuing a bold new plan to reach more people and make excellent healthcare more connected and accessible. This includes investments in new and enhanced care facilities, physician recruitment, digital health and medical education and training programs. The organization is also expanding the scope of its clinical research and other innovation and technology advancements and has increased its investment in community health programs, which totals more than $1 billion per year. With more than three decades of healthcare leadership experience—including 24 years at Ochsner Health, where he served as CEO for the last 10—Warner brings deep expertise and a forward-looking mindset to his work. He’s earned major recognition for his leadership and achievements, served on several national boards and advisory committees, and is a regular speaker at major industry events, where he shares insights on leadership, organizational culture, innovation and the future of healthcare.
