About
Aubrey Blanche believes most organisations don't fail on their values because they lack good intentions: they fail because their systems were never designed to live up those values. As AI reshapes how organisations operate, that gap is widening fastest where the stakes are highest. Her work is about closing it.Blanche is the founder of The Mathpath, a systems design practice that helps organisations govern AI ethically and accountably — attending in equal measure to the technology and to the people it affects. The name is the method: Math Nerd + Empath. Responsible AI transformation fails when effectiveness and humanity are treated as separate concerns: the technical work of building and governing systems gets divorced from the human work of protecting judgment and dignity for the people inside them. One side without the other produces AI that is either harmful or merely well-intentioned. The Mathpath holds both: the design of governance frameworks and accountability mechanisms, and a clear-eyed view of what these systems do to the humans living with them. She is also Director of Ethical Advisory and Strategic Partnerships at The Ethics Centre, a non-profit dedicated to bringing ethics to the centre of everyday life, where she works with financial services and corporate leaders navigating responsible AI adoption and ethical decision-making. She is completing a Master's in AI Ethics & Society at the University of Cambridge, research she brings directly into her client work on AI ethics and governance.Blanche has spent fifteen years working at the systems level inside some of the world's most scrutinised organisations, including Atlassian and Culture Amp, where she led equitable operations across the enterprise — from talent architecture to product development to ESG strategy. That work taught her what she now helps others build: organisations whose internal design matches their external commitments, even as the technology underneath them changes. It also sharpened the questions that drive her current work: who AI concentrates power for, what it does to human capability and dignity over time, and why so much ethics work produces the appearance of accountability rather than the substance of it.A sought-after speaker, writer, and advisor, Blanche has been featured in Wired, the Wall Street Journal, the Australian Financial Review, First Round Review, and elsewhere. She sits on the Board of Circle of Blue, invests in early-stage companies, and advises organisations building a more equitable world.
