About

I’m a software engineer, Applied AI Engineer, and international keynote speaker focused on JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js. My expertise spans backend architecture, performance engineering, observability, developer tooling, and AI systems design. I’ve contributed to the Node.js ecosystem, worked on production diagnostics and optimization, and helped teams build scalable systems across cloud and distributed environments. More recently, I’ve been building AI agents with LangChain.js, MCP servers, and production-oriented AI workflows that integrate LLMs, RAG, logs, metrics, traces, and telemetry to solve real engineering problems. At NodeSource, I’ve worked on AI-powered diagnostic systems that connect tools like Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, and OpenTelemetry-based platforms to help identify root causes in Node.js applications, infrastructure, and databases. I’m also the founder of EW Academy, where I’ve trained more than 100,000 developers worldwide, and the Postgraduate Coordinator and Instructor in Applied AI Engineering at UNIPDS. I enjoy building practical systems, teaching advanced concepts clearly, and helping teams use modern technologies — especially Node.js and Applied AI — to create real impact. I’m especially interested in: - Applied AI Engineering - AI agents, MCP, LLMs, and RAG - Node.js and JavaScript internals - Performance engineering and observability - Backend architecture and distributed systems - Developer education at scale More about my work: - Website: erickwendel.com - CV: erickwendel.github.io/cv/
