I have an immodest goal: I want to teach the world economics. And I'm ready to do it wherever you are — in the classroom, on a screen, or through your headphones. I'm a Professor of Economics and Public Policy at the University of Michigan and Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, and my research focuses on labor economics, macroeconomics, political economy, law and economics, social policy, and behavioral economics. And I spend most of my days trying to making complicated-sounding things as simple as I can -- either on Platypus Economics, as a guest on MSNBC and CNN, or writing for the New York Times. I'm also the author of several introductory economics textbooks and co-host of the podcast Think Like an Economist with my better half, Betsey Stevenson.
